The Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF) has finalized plans for a major renovation of the Anacostia Arts Center and raised 76% of its $11 million goal—enough to move forward with construction. Corenic Construction was selected as the general contractor, alongside Drummond Projects as architect and interior designer.

The redesign reflects community feedback, including relocating retail spaces to face the street for greater visibility and expanding the main gallery to improve traffic flow. The project will also upgrade the black-box theater and Hive coworking space, which supports over 75 entrepreneurs.

Construction is set to begin in November and will take 9–12 months. The center will be temporarily closed during the renovation.
